Finally, it's almost here!

Yes, at long last, the end is in sight in the creation of Kingtide's debut long-player. Thanks to a few gentle prods from the likes of Owen from Vehicle and Anthony Gliddon, not to mention Wiggi moaning "Let's just release it all as it is now, it sounds great", Ben began work on final mixes.

And then the mixing work became adding, replacing and mixing. And it all took quite a long time.

Anyway, it's all going well, and it won't be long before it's finished. The plan is a release in May, a bit of a party, exactly two years since the first drum session at Noisegate.

It had better be good...

Ben's been busy

So then, what's been going on in Kingtideland? Well, quite a lot, actually. Work is still happening on the album, oh yes, and there's probably going to be an EP as well with more songs on it. But since Ben gave up working for The Man there's been all sorts going on.

There's been a collaboration with Circle 3 songwriter Paul Ryan with Ben playing guitars, programming drums and singing BVs on 6 new songs.

There's an ongoing collaboration with Chris Bucin (better known as Sixthline) with Ben co-producing and playing guitars, bass and midi-gubbins on a few songs including the fantastic Emergency Exits. Hear it at www.myspace.com/sixthline

But the biggest of the projects has been Ben's work engineering and co-producing blues-folk (soon to be) superstar Ben Clempson's album for Pillar Box Records. It's all quite exciting, with guest starts including Shanade Morrow, Andy Cutting from Kate Rusby's band and Nizlopi's John Parker. And it's due for commercial release by autumn. Ben Kingtide has confirmed that their new album is still coming along nicely and there are now 12 songs almost finished. The likely tracklist includes new versions of live favourites like One in a Million and Coming In to Land (hear it at www.mpsyace.com/sosthejug) and a host of completely new material. There's even a provisional launch date - it's been pencilled in for late-April.

Work is continuing apace on the new Kingtide album with momentum gathering as the project nears completion. Kingtide back in studio

Kingtide are once again in the recording studio recording material for their currently untitled new album. So far all of the drums are done, along with quite a lot of bass, guitar and vocals. Particularly exciting is Ben's massive guitar sound: one guitar plugged into four all valve amps at once. It rocks a fat one...!

Kingtide on the BBC!

Kingtide bassist Lewis Smith was on BBC Coventry and Warwickshire radio tonight with Jen, Jim and Jayne to promote the gigging for it show tomorrow night at the Jug. As well as getting in some good plugs for the show, we also got October played on the radio! Special thanks to Anita Miah at BBC Coventry and Warwickshire for having us, and plugging the gig so heavily.

Podcasts and other noises

Kingtide have been confirmed as one of 3 acts to take part in the first in a monthly series of podcasts organised by Pillar Box Records. They will be recording an acoustic set at the amazing new Noisegate Studio, to be made freely available from the Pillar Box site. More details soon. In other news, plans for Kingtide's debut album are moving along apace. A draft tracklist has been completed and the first studio session is booked for April, with a view to an autumn release.

New record update

A (belated) happy new year to one and all! And what a year it promises to be. Here's some things to look forward to: Late-February will the release of "Coming In to Land", a collection of 10 largely acoustic songs recorded back in December. It'll be available for download from the Pillar Box Records site and may well also be available on CD. March: Leam'n'Aid 2! A date is yet to be set, but there WILL be another Leam'n'Aid day in Leamington. Anyone who was there last year (and there sure were a lot of you) will surely be as excited as we are. Otherwise, Kingtide will be taking a break from gigging to start work on their debut album. They plan to spend a good few months recording and are aiming for an autumn release. And there's also talk of a Pillar Box Tour - watch this space!

New record and acoustic shows

Things have been very busy at Kingtide Towers of late! The boys are working on a new record with the intention of releasing it through Pillar Box Records in the new year. It's very different to the Ambition EP, being a largely acoustic offering, with loads of new tunes ready to go. In other news, Kingtide are taking a break from the full-on electric guitars and loud, loud drums for two gigs in the run-up to Christmas. Watch out for Lewis playing acoustic guitar and the boy Wig singing beautiful harmonies in Leamington and Birmingham on the 22nd and 23rd December respectively.

Fitter, happier, more productive

Whilst all may have seemed a little quiet on the Kingtide front of late, behind the scenes that certainly hasn't been the case. The boys have been working hard preparing for the recording of a new EP, with recording due to start in early September and release as soon as possible after that in time for the launch of Pillar Box Records on 11th October. Once that's finished there's likely to be another EP out by the New Year, so the next few months are looking to be mighty busy. New material is gradually being seeped into the live set so catch one of the upcoming shows to hear it and keep an eye on the site for more info on the new releases.

So we finally added a pic that is of the current band members! The day we went to take the photos was the one day of English summer, but against the advice of our photographer we insisted on taking some pics anyway. We all came out like our faces had taken the Daz challenge (whatever happened to Danny Baker?). So this one is nicely messed around with till the weather dies down a bit. If you can recommend good locations for being photographed please drop us a line.

Drummer Boy Graduates!

Congratulations to Wiggi on his graduation. He got a first in something to do with computers, though rumour has it he was awarded the grade not because of the quality of his work, but because no-one has ever started their final year project so late and still handed it in on time. That was a tough 4 days!

Kingtide announce new line-up!

Following the departure of Colin Locke and Paul Ryan, Kingtide have recruited a new drummer in the (skinny, scruffy) shape of Richie J, otherwise known as the boy Wig. Fresh from university, 22-year old Wiggi likes to hit the drums really quite hard and has an uncanny ability to squeeze more hits into a given period of time than you?d ever thought possible. Wig made his debut with Kingtide at last weekend?s Peace Festival gig and put in a sterling performance, prompting Ben to announce that he hadn?t enjoyed playing so much in ages.

Leam 'n' Aid on TV!

Leam 'n' Aid is officially top pop after bubbling it's way onto BBC TV. BBC Midlands, who have previously featured Kingtide as their band of the month, mentioned the Leam 'n' Aid festival on Midlands Today as well as in this article. The appeal was also featured on the front page of the Leamington Observer today (coverage online soon) with a picture of Paul Kingtide, Jen Marketing and Andy Landlord with a nice story about the event which happens this weekend at the Robbins Well in Leamington. Kingtide (or should we call them Yuletide- chortle) have just confirmed a Christmas gig at Robins Well scheduled for 23rd December. The Leamington pub has played host to the Kingtide lads many a time, each and every time with a great atmosphere and willing crowd.

So if your Christmas spirit is struggling with the looming turkey diet for the next month or the 19th re-run of Only Fools and Horses, give your festive attitude the rock n roll treatment and come down the ?Well this December. Launch Party a Royal Success!

Sore heads and defaced t-shirts aside, Kingtide?s Record Release Party for the Red EP last Saturday (13th Nov) was an out and out success! The night kicked off with talented funky blues duo Soft Verges playing an amazing set, despite technical difficulties threatening to mar the proceedings. As true professionals, however, the ?Verges carried on and the crowd certainly showed their appreciation.

The Kingtide lads followed by premiering their first ever music vid for Green EP favourite ?Into the Light? to the packed out venue before ploughing straight into a 30 minute blinder of a set showcasing tracks from the Red EP, and culminating in a kick-ass cover of the Undertone?s Teenage Kicks which was dedicated to the late John Peel.

As all who attended will testify, Kingtide certainly did themselves proud- the atmosphere was amazing, the crowd loved every minute of the set and Paul was probably the most photographed man of the night after legging it through the crowd and jumping onto the bar for a guitar solo during Fools Rush In.

So with alcohol running freely and many a happy punter getting freebie?s launched at them from the stage, the grand total of EP?s sold on the night was?(drum roll please Colin)?48! If you want one of your very own use the contact page to drop us a line.

Yes, its official, Kingtide have become local celebs after two of Leamington?s premier news publications ran features on the rise of the ?Tide.

Established weekly newspapers The Observer and The Courier both ran very favourable articles in their entertainment sections alongside the new promo pics taken last month in time for the launch of the Red EP.

The Observer even ventured to hint Kingtide had toured with OneMusic finalists Broken Dolls- even though the bands have only played together once! God bless you The Observer! We take our hats off to you?The articles are, of course, geared towards promoting the record release party which will be kicking off this Saturday (13th Nov). After months of preparation, Kingtide are set to throw their long awaited launch party for the brand new Red EP this Saturday (13th Nov) at the Jug and Jester in Leamington Spa.

Kingtide, recently described by music venue Cox?s Yard as being ?like REM with grit?, will be showcasing tracks from the new five track EP, as well as screening an exclusive preview of their first ever music video for Green EP favourite 'Into the Light'. The night will also feature a support slot from the amazing Soft Verges and the opportunity to buy the new EP, as well as plenty of alcohol! The launch is set to be an eventful evening, Ben Kingtide reckons, ?We don?t want to give too much away just yet, let?s just say that along with the live set and some free goodies, we?ve got a couple of things to unveil that we?re very excited about?.

The local BBC radio station has not only set aside a whole page on its lovely website to tell the world about us, but has also invited visitors to listen to Green EP classic ?Into the Light? as well as plugging the Red EP launch party!
